NDU Host Molecular and Computational Biology Workshop


A 5-day Workshop on Molecular and Computational Biology organized by the Molecular Biology Unit of the College of Health Sciences in collaboration with Inqaba  Biotec West Africa Ltd took place on May 20, 2019 at the University's Main Campus. The keynote speaker, Christian T Happi, a professor of Molecular Biology and Genomics at the T H Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University; Director , World Bank African Centre for Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) and currently visiting professor at Redeemer's University, Ede, Osun State, Nigeria; in his lecture entitled "Unraveling the Mysteries Behind DNA and RNA", gave insights into the complex nature of DNA and RNA. The Workshop consists of laboratory, online, practical sessions on DNA extraction from bacteria and plants, sequencing techniques, etc and was well attended by researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students from the fields of Biology, Veterinary Medicine, Medical Laboratory Scientists.
