STUDENTS OF NIGER DELTA UNIVERSITY SELECTED AS CLASS OF 2020 FELLOWS OF THE UNITED NATIONS MILLENNIUM FELLOWSHIP:
We celebrate these promising youth leaders who successfully emerged as Millennium Fellows from the prestigious Niger Delta University.
Out of 15,159 students who applied from 1,458 campuses across 135 nations, just 80 campuses (6%) were selected based on the caliber of applicants to host the program this year.
These inspiring young leaders emerged as Millennium Fellows along side over 1,000 emerging leaders from 80 campuses across 20 nations.

Millennium Fellowship which is an Initiative of the United Nations Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network, is a semester-long leadership development program that happens on the campuses of numerous institutions globally, to convene, challenge, and celebrate student leadership, and advancing the UN goals.
These young leaders will be advancing the Sustainable Development Goal 3 through their social impact project, the "Act 4 Her" Initiative, which stands out to advocate for the Reproductive and Sexual health and rights of women between ages 15- 49 years in local communities here in Bayelsa. They hope to achieve this by increasing awareness on the use of suitable contraceptive methods to prevent unwanted and high-risk pregnancies, Advocating for safe abortion and creating awareness on the dangers of teenage pregnancy, unsafe abortion, and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, all with the vision to curb the menace of maternal mortality or reduce it to the barest minimum.
This project is projected to positively impact about 2000 women.
