NDU Conducts
Screening Test for Bayelsa State Civil Service Job Seekers
The
second phase of the selection process for employment into the Bayelsa State
Civil Service took place at the ICT Centre, Niger Delta University from
December 20-21, 2018. About 5,000 applicants vying for 1,000 positions
presented themselves for the screening test which includes questions drawn from
the applicant's specialist areas. The selection process started with about
12,000 applicants. Phase one of the selection process pruned it down to about
5,000. The Government of Bayelsa State had approved the recruitment of 1,000
qualified graduates into the Civil Service as part of reforms to reposition it
for greater efficiency and productivity.
NDU Visits
Orphanage
As
part of the celebration of the 2nd annual Thanksgiving ceremonies and also in
line with the spirit of the season, Management identified with the less privileged
in society by donating gift items to Daisy's Orphanage for Special Children at
Igbogene, Yenagoa. In responding to the
gifts, the representative of the Founder of the Orphanage thanked the
Management of NDU for this kind gesture and prayed for God's blessing on the
Institution. Items donated include bags of rice, cooking oil, etc. This
practice, an integral part of the annual Thanksgiving Ceremony, is an
initiative of the Prof Samuel G. Edoumiekumo's administration when he came on
board as the Vice Chancellor.
MDCN Visits NDU
for Professional Accreditation
The
Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) was at the University from
December 18 - 21 2018, for the professional accreditation of medical
programmes. The Team, accompanied by the Provost of the College of Health
Sciences, also paid courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Samuel G. Edoumiekumo.
The University for the months of October / November 2018, hosted many
accreditation teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC)
DVC Buries Brother.
Friends
and well-wishers of the Wankasi family gathered at Sabagreia, in Kolokuma Local
Government Area of Bayelsa State, on December 15, for the final burial rites of
Mr Colony Wankasi, who passed on recently. Mr Colony Wankasi is the elder brother
of Prof Donbebe Wankasi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Niger Delta University,
and as a show of solidarity with one of their own, the University community was
well represented amongst whom was the Vice Chancellor, Prof Samuel G.
Edoumiekumo.

Students Affairs Attend Security Workshop
The
Association of Heads of Security of Tertiary Institutions (AHSOTI) held their
annual conference at Federal University Akure (FUTA), Ondo State on December 5
- 6, 2018. The theme of this year's conference was titled "Intelligence
Trade Craft" was attended by the Chief Security Officer and Dean of
Students Affairs.
NDUWA Holds
Christmas / End-of Year Children Party
The
Niger Delta University Women Association (NDUWA) hosted children to an End -of-Year
/ Christmas party on December 14, 2018. Children had fun as they sang and
danced to bring the year to an end and also look forward to 2019 with hope and
confidence. Gifts were also presented to them.
The Governing
Council of the Niger Delta University, at its 90th meeting, has confirmed the
appointment of three principal officers that have been serving in an acting
capacity. These Officers are the Registrar, Bursar and the University
Librarian. Some of them have served for
more than two years.
