APPOINTMENT

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Humphrey A. Ogoni, has approved the appointment of Dr Cletus Emeti, as Co-ordinator for the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences. The appointment which takes immediate effect is till further notice. In a similar vein, Dr Suleman Jumoh of the Department of Medical Bio-Chemistry in the Faculty of Basic Medicine has been appointed Warden of Male Hostel (CHS) and Clinical Hostel Okolobiri .The appointment also take immediate effect and is till further notice. Management congratulates and wishes them success in the effective discharge of their duties

AG VICE-CHANCELLOR/ STUDENT FORUM

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Humphrey A. Ogoni, held interactive forum with the students according to their faculties. The forum which began on Monday, March 04, 2013 ended with the Faculty of law on Thursday, March 07, 2013. Some of the issues that came up for deliberations bordered on Security on Campus, water, Insufficient Lecture Halls, Transportation, “Missing Scores” etc. Prof Ogoni took time to address all the issues raised by the students and promised to address all of them especially the ones that could be internally handled by the University Administration. The Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof Yemi kayoed-Adedeji speaking on behalf of staff and students of the faculty of Law thanked the Ag Vice-Chancellor for his fatherly roll he has been playing especially in matters relating to the law Campus. COURTESY VISIT

 The Rector,of the newly established maritime Academy, Okpoama, Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral yanga paid a courtesy visit on the Ag Vice-Chancellor, Prof Humphrey A. Ogoni.  The Rector informed the University Management that the main purpose of his visit was to explore ways in which the Academy could partner with the University to develop the Maritime Industry in the Niger Delta Region and Bayelsa State in particular. Rear Admiral Yanga (Rtd) also used the opportunity to donate to the University library some books he authored. The Ag Vice-Chancellor thanked the Rector for the visit and the personal donation of his   to the University. He promised on behalf of Management that the University is ready to partner with the Maritime Academy and will be of assistance to the Academy as soon as the Department of Marine Engineering and the partnership programme with NEMASA through the Entrepreneurship Center become operational. NUGA ZONE D (PRELIMINARIES)

The Nigeria University Games (NUGA) holds every two(2) years, where all Universities in the country are made to compete in line with international sporting Regulations. The hosting of NUGA games rotate amongst Nigeria Universities with University of Ife billed to host the next from June 03, 2013 to June 13, 2013.  Therefore Zonal preliminary is bound to take place before the NUGA proper. This also rotates amongst the Universities in the zone. SIGNING OF ATTENDANCE REGISTER

The University Management while reviewing the general work attitude of staff to work ; especially as regards attendance to work, observed that there need to be improvement on the part of staff. The same was brought before the Senior Administrative staff in their forum for deliberation and advice to Management. The forum, after a careful deliberation resolved and its decision was approved by Management as follows: (a)     That an Attendance Register be specially designed and the signing by staff be religiously monitored by the Heads of Unit. (b)    The signed attendance must be endorsed by the Head of Unit and forwarded to the Registrar every Monday before 11.00a.m. Please note that all non – teaching staff in the Faculties must sign their names with the faculty Officers for proper supervision.
