The appointments which take immediate effect are till
further notice.
The Management congratulates and wishes them success
in the discharge of their responsibilities.
LECTURE FREE HOURS/ SPORTS
PERIOD
The Senate of the University has approved that the
hours of 2.00 pm – 6.00 pm every Wednesday be set aside as sport period for the
entire university.
In line with the above, therefore, all lectures within
the University shall end at 2.00pm on Wednesday.
DONATION
The Vice –Chancellor, Prof Joseph A Ajeinka, of
the University of Port Harcourt, on behalf of Management and Students donated
two hundred and twenty- one foams and two hundred and fifty pillows to the
University. According to the Uniport VC, the gesture was to assist the
University get over the recent flood disaster faced.
The Vice – Chancellor, who was represented by
Prof. Bell – Gam, added that the Faculty of Social Sciences of Uniport is
currently carrying out research on the effect of post flood and would share its
findings with the Niger Delta University.
The Ag. Vice – Chancellor, Prof Humphrey A. Ogoni,
in his response thanked the Vice - Chancellor of Uniport for the kind gesture,
pointing out that the gift will greatly assist the university which is
struggling to cope with the post flood experiences.
The Registrar, Tonbra Morris – Odubo, in his
vote of thanks, praised the Management of Uniport for the donation as,
according to him, a new dawn of cooperation has been established.
ASUU ELECT NEW EXCO
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Niger Delta
University Chapter has elected a new exco that will plot the affairs of the
union for the next two years. The former chairman, Dr. Beke T Sese, during his
valedictory speech thanked member of the union for the support given to him throughout
his tenure, he enumerating some of his achievements and challenges.
The Chairman of eleco, Mr. A. Frank – Oputu, at the dissolution of the
exco, announced the various positions to be contested for and the rules guiding
the election.
At the end of the election, results were announced by
the Chairman, Mr. A. Frank – Oputu in the presence of Prof. S.O Igalow, from
Ambrose Ali University, who led the ASUU national delegation.
The new exco as announced has Dr. Beke T. Sese as
Chairman, Dr Stanley Ogoun as Secretary, while Dr. Tonbarapagha Kingdom emerged
as Financial Secretary. Other members of the new exco are Dr (Mrs) Iziberoko Omu
Jack – Ide (Vice - Chairman), Dr (Mrs) Janet Amasingha Kebbi (Welfare
Secretary) Dr. Erefa Augustus Zuobo(Internal Auditor) and Dr Ebi Bulani Bridget
Nemia as Treasurer.
OUTSTANDING POSTGRADUATE AWARD
A staff of the Department of Biological Science,
Faculty of Science, Mr. Presidor Kendabie, who is currently undergoing a Ph.D
programme at the University of Nottingham, in the United Kingdom, won the best
postgraduate student poster award at the CORPWORD GLOBAL CONGRESS.
The award was presented to him by Prof. Graham Jellis.

O. Obokagha, wish to thank the entire University community especially the Ag.
Vice –Chancellor & the Registrar for honouring their wedding invitation
which took place on Saturday, 29th December, 2012.
LOST BUT FOUND ITEMS
A good staff with the University, Mr. Abadi Zebulon,
of the Security Department, found a bag belonging to Mr. Tomcookie Prince
Tonbra of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science.
The said
Tomcookie is advised to come to the security Department for identification and
collection of the said bag.
